In the digital age there are those that strongly affirm
We have not absolutely nothing to hide, which is all transparent and it doesn’t make sense, not even remotely, to circumscribe our privacy. The computer systems know everything about us and only those that have to hide and have some flaw to hide should worry, we are respectable people, not criminals!
At this point the system knows everything about your physical and digital person, but unfortunately we are the ones that feed it.
Is it possible to reach a digital maturity that allows us to be aware that things are profoundly different? Have you even asked yourself any questions? If you have even the minimal perception that there is perhaps something that is not so clear to you then, this article have achieved the desired result.
The identity is also made up of secrets
Do you pass your unlocked phone to just anyone? Do you reveal personal information to everyone or only to trusted people? Have you always told your parents everything? You may need to keep something as personal secret, such as having a disease that could jeopardize your future job hiring. Hiding a pregnancy during a job interview falls under the circumstances where confidentiality must be maintained. Another example, mischief committed as a teenager on a school trip, to steal illustrated postcards (old times it is no longer sent).
The things change in the time
Something that today is permitted to do, may it won’t be allowed tomorrow. In some geographical areas of the world, you can do things that in others are punishable by imprisonment.
The history of the jewish registers
Unfortunately, the germans identified jews living in Germany from public registers, lists of synagogue members, converted jews recorded in parish registers, and much more.
Are you sure that the data you spread today it will back as a boomerang on you tomorrow?
Elementary, Watson!
Do we all have Sherlock Holmes analytical skills? Is there logic and connection between the belief that you have done something wrong that must be hidden? Do you know to answer at this question, I complicate it further, do you have the ability to determine whether that something you are convinced you have done wrong must also be considered as such in the future? Illegal activities are necessarily hidden, so, are all hidden activities illicit?
Lack of logic and distorted evidence
So if you see a wet road you might think that it rained just a little while ago. This is not necessarily true because it could be that the road was wet due to cleaning, a leak from some pipe, etc.
The mistake is that you underestimate your privacy, you are convinced that the road is wet because it rained
Digital ingenuity
To outsource everything declaring that you have not nothing to hide leads to setting your existence to have not secrets. Non privacy is a deep-rooted status that opens the doors to digital ingenuity, being gullible known as Phishing. A classic example of digital ingenuity, the passwords that are all the same that contain elements taken from your personal details. To show your interests and hobbies on social media, a wonderful goal but, we are prey to advertising tracking.
You don’t forget the metadata. Date and geographic locations of your mobile phone camera.
Amplified exposure
A free social system allows you to defend yourself from forms of repression. You are the spokesperson of, having not nothing to hide, expose yourself to blackmail and manipulation in altered social contexts that you will not be able to remedy and that you will have difficulty getting out of.
Don’t underestimate
Whoever analyzes your life can have different purposes, from friends to a group of enthusiasts of your hobby. You also have the professional thief that waits for you to publish your wonderful trip that will keep you away from home for seven days. And the employer that tries to steal political opinions, externalizations on the state of your work and activities, compromising your career. Do not underestimate more or less hidden tracers in work tools: cell phone, notebook and company car.
The freedom, the freedom even the parrot must try it1
Without secrets, no freedom of opinion will be possible. Last chance for reflection to redeem yourself, you that are so convinced that you have not nothing to hide. The vote is secret and takes place in the voting booth, you are protected and there you can express yourself with maximum freedom.
